Journey to Silver Elite Blog Hop

Welcome to another Silver to Silver Elite Blog Hop. Here is my project using products from
the 2021 August-December Mini Catalog/Sale-a-bration Catalogue.

Tealight Holder Double Window Card

Another tealight holder card – this time with a double window created with the Cloche Die. Like my previous post for the tealight easel card, this is a card and gift in one. I mailed out a dozen of these in the regular Basic White Medium Envelopes (
159236) as part of a swap with just a regular postage stamp and I plan to make some for special people on my Christmas card list. It looks a little complicated, but it is easy if you follow the steps.

Tealight Holder Double Window Card

Supplies:

Stamp Set(s):

·         Stamp set from Classic Cloche Bundle (156786)

·         Stars from Peaceful Deer Stamp Set (156891)

Card Stock:

·         Vellum Cardstock (101856)

·         Basic White Cardstock 8.5”x11” (159276)

·         Basic Black 12”x12” Glitter Paper (153518)

·         Red and Green 12”x12” Foil (153510)

·         Silver Foil 12”x12” Specialty Pack (153510)

Designer Series Paper:

·         Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper (156394)

Stamp Pad(s) and Ink(s):

·         Versamark Pad (102283)

·         Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin’ Pad (147088)

Dies and Embossing Folder(s):

·         Cloche Dies from Classic Cloche Bundle (156786)

·         Ornate Frames Dies (150664)

·         Stitched Stars Dies (150653)

Embossing Powder:

·         Metallics Embossing Powders (155555)

Tools:

·         Stamparatus or Clear Blocks (Clear Block F or I to place two village images side by side with necessary space between if not using Stamparatus and Clear Block D for greetings); Clear Block C or D for the stars

·         Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

·         Silicone Craft Sheet (placing the Silicone Craft Sheet under the piece before applying adhesive makes clean-up easier and avoids glue where you don’t want it; when using liquid glue, I squeeze some onto the Silicone Craft Sheet and then use a sponge to pick up the glue to apply it more evenly.)

·         Heat tool, paper trimmer/scoring tool; bone folder; paper snips

Miscellaneous:

·         Adhesives: Stampin’ Seal, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals (used black), Adhesive Sheets (useful for the small die cuts), Tear & Tape (optional because prefer the Seal or Multipurpose to be able to reposition to line up more precisely)

·         Optional: Rhinestone Basic Jewels (144220)

Measurements:

Vellum Cardstock: 4 1/8” x 5.5” (trim the excess from the 5.5” end after placement on card)

Basic White Cardstock:  Two pieces 11” x 4.25” cardstock, score both at 2.75”, 5.5”, 8.25” (If not using a scoring board, just turn paper trimmer and score again at 2.75” from the other end)

Basic White Cardstock for greetings: one piece 1.5”x3” and one 2”x2”

Basic Black Glitter Paper: one piece 3”x5” and one piece 3.5”x3.25”

Red and Green Foil: Two pieces of same colour 4”x2 5/8”

       Silver Foil: 2”x2”

Designer Series Paper: two pieces 4”x2.5”

Instructions:

1.   Cut two pieces of cardstock measuring 11” x 4.25” and score both at 2.75”, 5.5”, 8.25” (instead of 8.25”, just turn trimmer and score again at 2.75” from the other end). These will form the back and front of card. The front piece will have a mountain fold in the middle and the back will have a valley fold in the middle.

2. Fold the front piece at the 5.5” score line. Centre the cloche die on the middle section and die cut through both layers to form a double window when you open it.

3.   Position the two village images side by side on the Stamparatus or clear block so they will line up to be visible in the cloche windows. Leave space at the top to stamp the stars.

(The above image shows the images placed on the stamparatus and the alternative block. The small block is needed for the stars as it will be stamped above each image and also shown is the completed stamped, embossed image.)

4. Ink the village images with Versamark and stamp onto the vellum cardstock. Place the star stamp on a clear block, ink with versamark and stamp above each village image using the dip in the star image to line up above the top of the church spire.

5. Pour silver embossing powder over the stamped Versamarked images and heat emboss from the back of the vellum.

6.   Line the vellum up so the images appear evenly in the cloche openings. Score along the middle between the two images.

7.   Glue the vellum piece behind the cloche openings so that it shows the front of the embossed image in the window. Run glue along middle between village images where it will adhere to middle of cardstock as well as the edges and top of cloche.

(Here is where the Silicone Craft Sheet comes in handy.)

8.   Fold the cardstock and vellum along the score line to form mountain fold and trim the vellum if any sticks out beyond the 2.75” and 8.25” score lines. If trimmed after adhering it, it is easier to be sure there is no gap at the outer corner of the cloche bottom.

9. Glue the green foil pieces one each on the two middle parts of the second 4.25”x11” scored cardstock. You may wish to glue it a little higher on the part that will be visible from the top. Insert image

10. Decorate the front section of the card base by gluing the designer series paper along the end flaps. Place the greetings on the Stamparatus or blocks and stamp on Basic White cardstock with the Shaded Spruce Ink. This ink is the closest colour to the green foil so if making a card with the red foil, use Real Red ink.

(These are the two bases of the card - back and front - ready to glue together)

 11. Die cut a piece of Black Glimmer Paper from the Ornate Frames Dies with the square frilly die and then die cut the larger stamped greeting with matching inner die. For the other greeting, trim the cardstock into a narrow strip and cut a slightly larger piece of Black Glimmer Paper. Glue the greetings onto the matching pieces of glimmer paper. Die cut the birds from the black glimmer paper. Attach the greeting pieces and birds to the front of the card over the designer series paper using black dimensionals.

12.   Die cut two swirls from the Stitched Stars Dies using the lighter silver foil and glue above the cloche openings. (Tip: attach adhesive sheet to the back of the silver foil piece before die-cutting and it will be easy to stick down.)

13. Crease the front card base using a bone folder with mountain fold in middle and valley folds at each side. Crease back card base with valley fold in the middle and mountain folds at the two sides. Glue the two end front panels to the two end back panels and pop the card out to form a box shape in the centre. Place a battery operated tealight in the box shape so that it shines through the vellum.

14. To mail as a card with the tealight, fold along the centre or 5.5” score line so that each side shows the green foil behind the cloche shape.

(Folded ready for mailing - left and right side of front )

Here is an alternative using the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper free from Sale-a-Bration with $60 CAD order of products and Basic Black cardstock instead of the glimmer paper. Used red foil and stamped greetings with Real Red ink. The front base uses Real Red cardstock. Back base may be Real Red or Basic White. Do you have a variation on this card? If so, post it in the comments. Would love to see what you come up with.

If you live in Canada and don't already have a demonstrator, I would be happy to send you a catalogue and a card! Maybe this card!

    1. it is a little fussy but so fun to make and the result is great! I tried a simpler version of directions without the extra photos but printed them out and tried to follow. So easy to get lost! So I tried to put in all the necessary details. I hope you make some and you and your recipients enjoy!
